Abstract

All teaching materials for institutions of high education in Republic of Croatia will soon be prepared both in a paper, as well as in an electronic version and placed on “standard” web pages or in some of the web courseware tools. A responsible teacher would take care that such material is of good quality not only in terms of content, but also to have a design that will make E-learning more efficient. What types of colors and what types of backgrounds should be chosen for a good quality teaching? Warm or cold, contrasting or similar? Some colors make students more irritable, while others provide a better learning experience. This study, conducted among approximately seventy students, reports results of a two-year research project that attempted to establish which colors affect the quality of learning using computer-based teaching. Based on the results of the conducted tests, a list of recommended colors that would make E-learning more efficient is provided.
