Abstract

Vaginal delivery of a term infant in breech presentation, with the accompanying risk factors excluded, is associated with a negligibly higher risk for the infant due to the possible traumatic and asphyctic component. The greater the breech manipulation and the earlier the intervention, the higher is perinatal morbidity and mortality, while increasing the risk of maternal lesion. Minimally assisted delivery techniques are recommended, i.e. Vermelin passive spontaneous delivery, and Thiessen or modified Bracht procedure.
