Sažetak

Early primary postpartum haemorrhage (PPPH) is the cause of high maternal morbidity and mortality. The management of PPPH includes mechanical, medicamentous and surgical procedures that usually are combined with resus-citation measures in obstetric hypovolemic shock. B-Lynch suture was described in 1997 by B-Lynch as an alternative operative method of stopping postpartum haemorrhage, especially in uterus atony. Using these methods and modifications (Bolbos, Z-suture, Hayman, Malibray) the volume of uterus is reduced, uterus is also compressed and therefore further haemorrhage stopped. B-Lynch suture is an efficient, safe and simple method for the treatment of primary postpartum haemorrhage during cesarean section, which successfully reduces the number of urgent postpartum hysterectomies, also preserving subsequent fertility. The compression methods should be included in the algorithm of postpartum hemorrhage management at obstetric departments.
