Sažetak
Application of small therapeutic doses of Na2Ca EDTA was examined in altogether 17 patients poisoned by lead. Daily doses of the complexing agent amouned to 2,5 g in 10 patients and varied from 0,2 to 2,4 g in other patients. Laboratory findings - elimination of lead in urine, blood lead level, the count of basophilic stippled cells, the concentration of coproporphyrin in urine - showed equally favourable therapeutic effects in both groups of patients. No statistically significant differences between the two groups were found. In the course of therapy no toxic side-effects were noticed. Smaller daily doses, however, were not quite satisfactory from the point of view of reducing clinical symptoms (abdominal pain), so that daily doses of 2,4 g Na2Ca EDTA seemed to be the most efficient.
