Ratzinger and Some Directions of Understanding Culture

Sažetak
At the outset, the concept of culture and its understanding in the thought of Joseph Ratzinger is presented to address the question of how exclusively one faith relates to the plurality of cultures and how genuine universality is possible within this plurality. In this context, the first part will aim to examine the potential relationship between faith and culture, as well as the development of Christian culture in the context of the exodus – dying to be reborn. In the second part of the paper, the focus will be on the topic of the crisis of cultures, especially the current situation in Europe. Our aim will be to highlight the question of God and the roots of Christianity within rationalist and enlightened cultures, and, following Ratzinger’s thoughts, to propose a recovery of Europe using the concept of interculturality.
