First record of biting midge Dasyhelea gothlandica Strandberg & Johanson in Croatia (Diptera: Ceratopogonidae)

Abstract

The biting midge, Dasyhelea gothlandica Strandberg & Johanson, 2015, described from Sweden is recorded for the first time in Croatia. Total of 17 specimens where collected at four locations in Plitvice Lakes National Park. These records contribute to data on the biting midges of Croatia, and in addition extend our knowledge on the distribution and ecology of this species.
