Abstract

The article analyzes the process of restoration of old website of the Croatian Archival Society. This process involved collaboration between students from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb, with members of the Croatian Archival Society. First step of the restoration process involved analyzing information and technical aspects of the websites of eight major foreign archival societies. Based on this analysis the technical process of creating a new website on hidden subdomains of the old website began. The testing of certain functions of the new website was done off-line. Besides transferring and improving content from the old site, which mostly included simple information with plane text and some pictures, a lot of new interactive content was created which included publications that could be read directly from within the website or downloaded on a computer device, interactive maps with Croatian archives and archives of the world and many different archival games. In conclusion some suggestions on how to improve and develop this new site are given.
