Abstrakt

The primary study areas of this research are Information Systems, Sustainable Development and Hospitality Industry. During the last few years, many surveys have examined the connection of the above concepts and how they could lead to business performance, aiming for a competitive advantage and economies of scale. There is a gap in the international literature review regarding the above meanings and the business value. So, the main goal of this research is to find this gap and propose a conceptual framework for future research. The methodology used in this paper is based on a literature review, which tries to find the gap in the international literature and understand the concepts under examination. The main finding of this research is the development of a conceptual framework, which explains how the sustainability and the resources of Information Technology could lead to the creation of business value. Finally, hotel managers and companies could benefit from this added value and strengthen their position inside their task environment.

Nikoletta Klada, University of Piraeus, Greece

Mrs. Nikoletta Klada is an experienced Tourism Education Professional with a deep understanding of the Greek and global tourism industry. She is a Ph.D. Candidate in the Department of Business Administration of the University of Piraeus in the fields of Digital Transformation and Strategic Management of Tourism. Certified Adults Trainer in theoretical and technical subjects (Tourism, Hospitality, Rooms Division, Supplies, Hotel Channel Manager, Hotel Booking engine, Hotel PMS) and co-author of scientific papers presented at high-profile conferences. Asterios Stroumpoulis, University of Piraeus, Greece

Asterios Stroumpoulis is a Survey Engineer. He holds a BSc in Survey Engineering and an MSc. in Transport Systems from the Faculty of Engineering of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in Greece. He also holds an M.B.A. degree and is a PhD Candidate at the Department of Business Administration of the University of Piraeus. His research interests include various areas such as Information Systems, Sustainable Development, Competitive Advantage, Business Performance, and Business Operations. He participated in the following project: “Development and management of a destination management system (DMS) at the Regional level of the Peloponnese”. Sotirios Varelas , University of Piraeus, Greece

Dr. Varelas Sotirios is an Assistant Professor at the Tourism Studies Department – University of Piraeus with the academic field ”Strategy of Hospitality Business and Tourism Organizations”. Holds a Ph.D degree in Business Administration from the Department of Business Administration of the University of Piraeus. He graduated from the Department of Statistics and Insurance Science of the University of Piraeus and was awarded his MBA-TQM from the Department of Business Administration. He has 12 years of working experience as a scientific advisor on tourism organisations and used to be co-founder and manager of a start-up company related to virtual tourism. Nicolaos Georgopoulos, University of Piraeus, Greece

Dr. Nikolaos B. Georgopoulos is the Head of the Tourism Studies Department of the University of Piraeus. His courses are Strategic Management and Information Systems. He holds his bachelor's degree from the Graduate School of Industrial Studies of Thessaloniki, Greece; a Master's in Business Administration from Birmingham University, UK; and a Master of Science in Analysis, Design and Management of Information Systems from the London School of Economics, University of London, UK. He received his Doctorate in Strategic Information Systems from the Department of Business Administration of the University of Macedonia, Greece.
