Author Guidelines

Geodetski list: the Journal of the Croatian Geodetic Society is an Open Access Journal that publishes research and professional articles in all areas in the fields of geodesy and geoinformatics and significant insights from other areas that are important for the development and improvement of geodesy and geoinformatics.

The topic covered includes: (but are not limited to) all fields of geodesy and geoinformatics:

  • Professional standards, practice, and education
  • Spatial information management
  • Hydrography
  • Positioning and measurement
  • Engineering surveys
  • Cadastre and land management
  • Spatial planning and development
  • Valuation and the management of the real estate
  • Construction economics and management.

The reviewed works are categorized as follows:

  • Original scientific articles - contain original, unpublished scientific research results. The information should be presented in a manner that allows for verification of the accuracy of the analyses and deductions.
  • Previous announcements - contains new scientific knowledge that should be published quickly. They do not have to allow for the repetition and verification of the presented results.
  • Review scientific articles - presents a concise and critical overview of a field or part of it, in which the author is actively involved. The authors' original contribution to the field should be emphasized and the date and review of already published works should be noted.
  • Professional articles - provide a useful contribution from outside the core of the profession, but not related to original research. For example, this may refer to the reproduction of well-known research of value for spreading knowledge and adapting original research to the needs of science and practice.

The authors may propose a category for their work, but the final classification decision is made by the editors based on the recommendations of the reviewers.

  • The title should be concise, specific – and, preferably, as short as possible.
  • The introduction should briefly provide the broader context for the study and emphasize its importance. It should clarify the objectives and significance of the work, including the specific hypotheses being examined. An overview of the current research field should be conducted and key literature should be referenced.
  • Images and diagrams should either be incorporated into the text or sent as separate files in formats such as .png, .jpg, .tif, or .eps. Please ensure the quality and resolution are adequate, with a minimum of 300dpi.
  • References must be numbered according to their order of appearance in the text, and listed in full at the end of the manuscript – the literature list should be arranged alphabetically by the last name of the authors. Only the titles and URLs referenced in the text should be included in the bibliography.

Using bibliography software such as Mendeley or Zotero to prepare references is recommended to minimize errors and duplicates. In the text, the reference is given as the last name and the year of publication, e.g. (Macarol 1950).

Articles in the journal are cited in the following order: last name of the author(s) – if there are more, they are separated with a comma, name initials, year in parentheses, article title, journal name (or international abbreviation), volume number, first and last page numbers.

Example given: Božićnik, M. (1992): Surveyors in the temple of nature of the Plitvice Lakes, Geodetski list, 4, 497–505.

Books are cited as follows: author's last name, initials, year in parentheses, book title, publisher, place of publication.

Example given: Macarol, S. (1950): Practical Geodesy, Školska knjiga, Zagreb.

In-text citations for URL addresses are given as (URL 1), (URL 2), etc. In the reference list at the end of the article, they should include the title, full URL, and date of last access.to the specified address, e.g.:

    URL 1: Croatian Geodetic Society, http://www.hgd1952.hr, (November 25, 1911).

Authors are requested to comply with the guidelines. Papers that do not meet the requirements will be returned for revision.
