Motherhood and its inherent ethics of care has been determined by the dominant female identity in some works of J. J. Rousseau, F. Fröbel and J. S. Mill. These and other theorists consider mothers to be the best teachers of (their own) children which resulted in various organisational and conceptual attempts to familiarise education. Institutional familiarisation, however, has not produced expected results because the formal curriculum of the educational institutions is based on the (political) negotiation of those in power, not on the ethics of care and pedagogy of love.
