Sažetak
European Union law has a broad framevrork in the field of suppression of ali forms of discrimination. Primary and secondary european law makes distinctions betvreen different grounds of discrimina¬tion which makes a part of acquis communitaire which is a legal basis for harmonisation of national law with European law. Croatia has brought several separate laws within its antidiscrimination framework and one of the most important is Law on suppression of ali forms of discrimination (Official Gazzette no. 85/08) which has entered into force on 1 January 2009. By entering into force, the Law on suppression of ali forms of discrimination has provoked a number of serious public discussions on its interpretation by single norms and by the fact that this Law has introduced new legal concepts unknown in Croatian legal system until recently. Therefore, this paper represents the beginning of efforts in understanding of its content and possibility of its aapplication as well as an importance of balance between upper and lower limits of sanctions prescribed by the Law.
