Abstract

This paper is a concise overview of some important species of beneficial bugs with special emphasis on those that live in Europe. Only those families (Anthocoridae, Geocoridae, Miridae, Nabidae, Pentatomidae and Reduvidae) which are important in biological control of harmful arthropods in agricultural production were described. The feeding habits of this group of insects are described and the most important prey species for some families are listed.
Moreover truly complex relationship between predator and prey, and the importance of certain plant species in reproduction and development of these insects is summarized.
