Sažetak
During the three centuries of its existence, the significance, and therefore the reputation of Gymnasium in Požega arise from the need for its foundation and operation in the central part of continental Croatia, following the liberation from the Turkish Empire and during the 18th and 19th century. That significance is evident in several types of impacts this institution had in the broad social context or at the local level, be they direct or indirect. Primarily, this refers to acclaimed professors, who were involved in the Gymnasium, as well as renowned students whose work marked the place and time of their operation. In a broad sense, the Gymnasium made a significant cultural and scientific impact through the efforts of its students and professors. Furthermore, it directly influenced the cultural and scientific climate of Požega, as well as the economy and agriculture or the way of life in general, by means of realizing its curriculum. Because of its prestige and the reputation of its professors, it had a strong social impact, primarily in Požega and the Požega County.
