Sažetak
olving many tasks in teaching mathematics can be approached in
two ways, i.e. either algebraically or geometrically. The algebraic approach requires transformations whose background is sometimes hardly understood by students.
On the other hand, the geometric approach to problem solving requires visual presentation, a figure. It is a good way of giving a student the opportunity to better comprehend what they are asked to solve. The figure is the core of the geometric
approach to problem solving. Note that elements in the figure should be presented in the required relationships. The figure should not contain any special case among the elements that could mislead students into wrongful solving. In the geometric
approach students find connections between elements that are visible to them. By finding logical connections between elements in the figure students discover a guide to problem solving. In this article, we are going to present some tasks addressed in high-school mathematics classes that are solved by means of the geometric approach.
