Sažetak
Peach rootborer is a very dangerous pest that appears in stone fruit orchards which causes drying and decay of individual trees and complete plantation. Primarily it attacks peaches, nectarines, cherries, but it also causes extensive damages on apricot, plum and almond tree. Demages are particularly pronounced in Meditteran region where the orchades are often built on shallow, skeletal soils. Although it regularly occurs in Herzegovina and Dalmatia, always warmer summers without precipitation cause its spread in the inland area, where up to now did not seem economically significant damages. Damages to the stone fruit are made by adults and larvae, but larvae cause tree death. Success in curbing peach rootborer can only be expected by application of complete preventive measures. It includes a series of activities starting from the choice of an appropriate field for raising crops, selection of fruit rootstock, regular enforcement of agronomical measures and finally application of mechanical and chemical protection measures.
