PROBLEM OF STORED-PRODUCT PESTS ON COMPONENTS IN FEED FACTORIES

Sažetak
Animal feed as well as its components are very frequently infested by different pests like insects, mites, rodents and birds. The survey of three animal feed stuffs fascilities in Croatia has shown the presence of Tribolium spp, Sitophilus spp, Ephestia spp, Sitotroga cerealella Oliv, Cryptolestes spp. and Dermestidae in 1983 and 1984. lt is very important to know the pests on the components of animal feed in order to have products of good quality. Also, presented are 10 insect species often found on soybean meal in the port of Rijeka during 9 years. The most frequently found insect species were: Lasioderma serricorne F, Ephestia cautella Wlk, Tribolium carstaneum (Hbst), Alphitobius diaperinus (Pnz), Ephestia cautella (gusjenice), Gnathocerus cornutus F, Tribolium confusum (Du V), Stegobium paniceum L, Lagria hirta L, Alphitobius laevigatus F. Some insect problems in feed fascilities are discussed.
