Sažetak
The paper analyses the traffic and geographical location of the lake »Soderica«, i.e. the main elements that determine its location, like the river Drava, the railroad, the proximity of the gravity zones of the regional and subregional centres, and the proximity of the Hungarian border. Considering the contact position of Croatia and Hungary, in the macrogeographical sense, the area of Soderica is characterized by a favourable transit location, provided by the railroad Rijeka-Zagreb-Koprivnica-Drnje-Botovo-Zakany-Budapest in the area. Soderica theoretically exploits this so called dislocated crossroad position through the regional (county) road connecting Međimurje over Đelekovci and Torčec with Drnje, continuing through Sigec and Hlebine to Novigrad Podravski, where it joins with the Podravina motorway. The paper analyses the traffic infrastructure of the districts in the area of the lake Soderica, as well as the traffic intensity on 3 traffic counter locations in the area of Soderica (occasional and continuous), pointing out that Podravina urgently needs the construction of expressways in longitudinal and transversal direction to have better connectivity with the rest of Croatia. The traffic issues are related to the demographic millstone, as well as numerous ecological issues (so called traffic environmental legacy) which make it difficult to achieve the touristic re-evaluation of the lake.
