THE ELIMINATION OF THE IRREGULARITY OF FERTILITY AND THE INCREASE OF YIELD OF OLIVES

Abstract
The investigations of foliar diagnosis has been carried out on different variteties of olive trees in Dalmatia during five years. Before the investigations the olive trees were incompletery and irregularly fertilized. During five years fertilizer treatments based on the results of foliar diagnosis, the equilibrium, and intensity of the nutrition has been improved, and on the same time the olive-trees has been better and more regularly fed up, because the avarage for the major nutrient elements (N, P₂O₃, K₂O ) has approached to the optimum value. Crop yields of olive-trees based on the results of foliar diagnosis are much bigger, than the crop yields of olive-trees obtained by fertilizer-treatmens based on soil analyses and by usual fertilizer- treatmens. By foliar diagnosis the irregular fertility of olive trees is eliminated. This irregularity was constantly present when the olive-trees were fertilized by usual methods or by methods based on soil analyses. The physiological nutrition-equitibrium of olive-trees is the constant of „location“ (milieu), while the intensity of the nutrition is the characteristic of variety.
