Sažetak
Sixteenth century in Bar was a period of turbulent events and a kind of break-point in the history of the city. From the second half of the century the city was constantly under the Ottoman attack, which caused decrease of the city’s economy, as well as deprivation of social and cultural development. Moreover, city endured much social
unrest between commoners and patricians regarding distribution of power in the commune. These conflicts lasted until Ottoman occupation in 1571. In this article author analyses documents from the State Archives in Venice (Archivio di Stato di Venezia), specifically from the archival fond Consiglio dei Dieci. Lettere Rettori ai Capi (Antivari, 1500-1565), which are consisted of reports which Venetian chief administrative officers in Bar sent to the Venetian government. These reports witness details about aforementioned conflicts between commoners and patricians. Moreover, they reveal a significant disagreement among patricians, which had its peak as open armed clash during the period between 1548 and 1550. At the end it is important to emphasize that beside a detail analysis of the documents, author delivers transcriptions of the used documents.
