Abstract
The aim of this paper is the optimization of electricity consumption for station outdoor lighting, based on an analysis of existing solutions for outdoor lighting at railway stations. A prerequisite for rational use of energy at railway stations is actual consumption planning based on measurements and accurately stored measurement results, and an analysis of electricity consumption at the level of the entire station and consumption for outdoor lighting. Based on the given review and analysis of consumption for outdoor lighting at railway stations, it is necessary to propose the most economical solutions for the prescribed conditions of station lighting, or to optimize existing and planned outdoor lighting solutions, taking into account the criteria of cost-effectiveness and meeting prescribed norms of illumination levels along the railway station area. Railway stations have to meet high requirements with regard to illumination, glare control and colour rendering of light fixtures. Special attention is given in the article to consumption of electric energy for outdoor lighting of station areas. All external lighting solutions for station areas at Croatian Railways are shown, taking into account innovative technologies, design and quality of lighting with a connection to the low voltage power grid.
