Sažetak
The paper presents the results of the research conducted on a sample of music students from Art Academy, University of Split (N = 67). The aim of the research was to examine several aspects of motivation, self-efficacy and practicing strategies as the main determinants of musical performance. The results showed that the average practicing time was 3.3 hours per day and 19.57 per week for instrument students, with no significant difference between the students of different instruments. Average practicing time for solosingers was 1.75 hours per day. The students have equally expressed their intention to engage in active artistic work as well as pedagogical work in the future. Older students practice more on average, and the results showed that practicing time is significantly associated with planning as an effective practicing strategy. The autonomy in practicing was associated with practicing strategies and the age of participants, with older participants, as well as those who use effective practicing strategies, demonstrating greater autonomy in practicing and the ability to independently master new tasks.
