Abstract

The paper presents actual real examples of the forensic investigations of fires on housing facilities conducted by the experts at the Forensic Science Centre Ivan Vučetić within the Croatian Ministry of the Interior.
A description of the methods for determining the location and the causes of fire is offered, indicating the typical faults that may cause a fire.
It was found that the most common cause of fire in housing facilities is either a fault on the connection between the building and the network or a fault on the electrical installations in the building itself.
