Abstract

The paper presents the results of a field research carried out in the area of
villages belonging to Donja Pazarišta, referring to a part of the feminine
traditional costume of the Lika region. The research was carried out primarily in order to save and preserve the memory of the formal women’s
waistcoat, and to confirm the existence of formal variations of waistcoats
with its specific color and a different way of making than what is presented
today.
The Pazarište example was preserved only in the memory of the informants,
and analogies were found in examples from Kaluđerovac and Perušić. At
the same time, the intention of this work is to be a guide towards the valorization, but also the reconstruction of this forgotten clothing item as part
of the activities of the folklore societies of Lika. Aside from exploring this
forgotten part of Lika folk costumes in Pazarište, as I have already stated,
my aim was to confirm the existence of formal variations of waistcoats
with their specific color and a different way of production than what is
presented today.
