MemorabiLika is a scholarly journal with an international editorial board, published jointly by the State Archives in Gospić and the University of Zadar. It is funded with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Media and the University of Zadar. The journal was established to encourage scholarly interest in the Lika region, including the historical areas of Lika, Krbava, Gacka, as well as Velebit and the adjacent coastal strip. In this regard, research published in the journal pertains to the history, culture (language, literature, customs, landscape, archival material), and geography of Lika, as well as general regional topics. This area, inhabited since prehistoric times, has always been a crossroads of transport and trade routes, a meeting point of diverse religions and civilizations, a site of frequent wartime suffering, and a space where different cultures and linguistic influences overlap. Unfortunately, it is also a region characterized by continuous depopulation and a lack of adequate scholarly evaluation. The journal was launched in 2018 as an annual publication. It is issued once a year in both print and electronic formats. The journal exclusively publishes previously unpublished papers. In addition to research articles - categorized as original scientific papers, preliminary communications, review articles, or professional papers - the journal also publishes critical editions of shorter unknown or unpublished sources, archival materials, archival finding aids, reviews of scholarly literature and academic conferences, and other contributions relevant to regional history, geography and culture. In addition to Hrčak, the journal is published electronically on Morepress, the University of Zadar’s online publishing platform. Manuscripts are accepted exclusively in electronic form via email: memorabilika@gmail.com. There are no submission, publication or peer review fees (APC). The obligations of authors, editors, and reviewers are based on the COPE guidelines (https://publicationethics.org). All submitted contributions are treated confidentially. Upon receipt, manuscripts are anonymized to ensure a completely impartial editorial evaluation based on content. Submissions undergo two double-blind peer reviews. The decision to initiate the review process and the selection of reviewers are made by the Editorial Board after reviewing the anonymized manuscript. The Editorial Board reserves the right to reject manuscripts without a peer review, providing a written justification if the research is deficient or outside the journal’s scope. The decision on the publication and categorization of research papers is made by the Editorial Board following two positive external double-blind reviews. If a manuscript receives one positive and one negative review in the first round, a third reviewer’s opinion is sought. In the case of conflicting reviews, the Editorial Board may, if deemed necessary, send the article to a third reviewer before making a final decision. Authors are granted access to the anonymized reviews. The journal maintains a policy of avoiding any conflicts of interest (financial, academic, familial, or otherwise) among editors, the editorial board, reviewers, and authors. The journal is indexed in: DOAJ, HRČAK, Slavic Humanities Index, and Morepress. The self-archiving policy is indexed in the SHERPA/RoMEO database (Jisc Open Policy Finder), which confirms that the journal supports the green level of self-archiving (allowing the archiving of pre-print, post-print, and the publisher's version of the paper).
