Abstract

Claustra Alpium Iuliarum is one of the largest architectural military undertakings in the Late Roman Period in today’s territories of Croatia and Slovenia. Due to its distribution through the dense forest and over the areas of two countries, it is difficult to protect, preserve and use this heritage for tourist purposes. The article upon the example of the implemented projects of Claustra and Claustra+ shows how EU funding can be used for an interdisciplinary approach to research, protect and promote this kind of cultural heritage, and to develop a quality and credible cultural product that does not disturb the heritage.
