Summary Inventory of the Fonds People’s Committee of the Municipality of Barban 1952 – 1955

Sažetak
The People’s Committee of the Municipality of Barban began operating in 1952 following the termination of the Local People’s Committee of Barban, whose area came under its jurisdiction together with the villages of Hreljići and Manjadvorci, previously under the jurisdiction of the Local People’s Committee of Rakalj (1947-1952). It ceased to operate in 1955, when the area of its jurisdiction was transferred to the newly established People’s Committee of the Municipality of Vodnjan (1955-1960). As an administrative body of local jurisdiction, it performed tasks from the communal, economic, social and cultural-educational fields important for the development and operation of the Municipality. It performed its duties through its councils and sessions that were convened at least once a month. The archival material was submitted to the Archives by the Municipal Assembly of Pula on several occasions in 1970, 1971 and 1991, together with the material of related creators. The arrangement was made in 2014, and the summary inventory was compiled in June of the same year. The structure of the fund was formed in broad lines in accordance with the provisions of the Order regarding the plan of unique archival signs for all administrative bodies in the territory of the People’s Republic of Croatia (OG 7/58) from 1958 and consists of eleven basic units (series): “Office Records”, “General Affairs”, “Work and Employment Relationships”, “Internal Affairs”, “Economy”, “Finance”, “Property and Legal Affairs“, „Health and Social Welfare“, “Education and Culture”, “Justice” and “People’s Defence“. Most of the fonds’ material falls within the economy unit, i.e. municipal tasks. Numerous documents related to the adaptation and erection of buildings and documents from the field of agriculture and forestry have been preserved, because these economic branches were the most represented. Numerous cases are also related to agrarian reform and colonization and the allocation of land for cultivation, which testifies to the predominantly rural character of the area during the period of the creator’s activity.
