Abstract

the replacement process of the Croatian kuna with the euro. Realistic
possibilities for Croatia to fulfill the mandatory criteria of nominal
convergence are identified. The aim of this paper is to confirm the
hypothesis that adoption of euro will have a positive impact on the
standard of living of Croatian citizens, on the business of companies and
on macroeconomic indicators. In the research, secondary sources were
used as well as official publications, online sources, and in generating
of research conclusions, the methods of comparison, synthesis,
and induction were used. Research results include the following
conclusions: a realistic possibility that Croatia will fulfill all criteria of
nominal convergence and subsequently join the euro area in 2023. The
advantages which adoption of the euro will bring to Croatia include:
a slight growth of prices, elimination of currency risk, reduction of
cost of borrowing, stimulation of international exchange and foreign
investment, and faster economic growth.
