Sažetak

The article thematises and problematizes the original meaning of Protagoras’ famous motto about man as the measure of all things and the ways of its interpretation in the philosophical tradition. The author then tries to approach this motto from a theological point of view, as well as the forms of its interpretation, starting from all the challenges of the theological consideration of certain philosophers. In this respect, the author shows the possible relations between Protagoras’ motto and the theological-anthropological tradition and points out the relevance of some of its passages for contemporary theological thought. Given the prevailing modern currents of a predominantly subjectivist conceptualisation of the Homo Mensura motto, as well as its contribution to the privatisation of truth and the denial of its objectivity, it not only requires, but also supports, an appropriate, generally scientific, and thus also a theological consideration.
