Sažetak

The chapter on Teleology is interpreted in this article as the first instance where the figure of a “practical syllogism” appears explicitly in the logical exposition. This figure is characterized by the overcoming of the mechanical necessity by freedom, which corresponds to the production of artifacts within an objective sphere. The interpretation is based on a general understanding of the Begriffslehre, in which the freedom/necessity antinomy has a central systematic importance. Thus, the basic concepts of this understanding are outlined and the particularities of the “practical syllogism” in the Teleology chapter is discussed. Thereby, the possibilities – as well as certain critical deficiencies – of this purely instrumental form of the concept’s reference to objectivity could be realized. Finally, the problem is projected into a later stage of the Begriffslehre.
