Sažetak
The program of breeding winter triticale was initiated in the Bc Institute in early 1990 and was aimed at developing varieties with high and stable yields and good grain quality. Genetic basis consisting of 1.156 genotypes was formed and tested for several years both in the experimental field in Botinec and in the laboratory. Selected material was crossed and breeding was continued following the pedigree method for testing agronomically valuable lines. Breeding material (F1 – F12) consisting of 659 combinations and 9.965 ear progenies was established. In 2006 six lines were selected from preliminary investigations for exact variety trial for further work in season 2006/2007. Analysis of trials showed that the best line in 2007 was Bc 6315 / 06 because with its yield of 5.636 kg /ha it was superior to the standard variety Clercal by 21,6 % which yield was 4.636 kg/ha. This line is being tested by the Croatian Board for Registration, Approbation and Protection of Varieties. Apart from the said line, good results were obtained by the following lines in extremely dry 2007 season: Bc 6322 /06, 7.168 kg /ha, Bc 2791 / 05, 6.316 kg/ha, Bc 6310 /06, 5.324 kg/ha, and Bc 1276/99, 4.700 kg/ha, which will all be used in further breeding.
The result of the work on breeding winter triticale in the Bc Institute so far is the registered variety Bc Goran, the production of which has already spread. Additionally, there has also been a considerable interest in this variety in the neighboring countries (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia).
