Sažetak

The Knights Templar Order, as a Western European factor, had several of its residences in Croatia, and one of them was in Senj. Throughout its history, because of trade and location, Senj has always been important to Croatia, and because of this, some of the noble lineages, such as the Counts of Krk, also saw an interest in it. The Templars stayed in Senj from 1183 to 1269. In this paper, the author presents a chronological overview of sources and historiographical works on the Templar activity in Senj, and from that concludes what is the current state of exploration of the Templars in Senj. Important thing is that Templar activities in Senj cannot be completely reconstructed unless some archaeological findings are taken into overview. Considering that some historians also include Gacka (Gacko polje) under the residence of Senj, the author also discusses Templar activity in Gacka.
