Croatian Foreign Policy in 2006: Challenges to be Faced

Sažetak
Three goals of the Croatian foreign policy activity are: becoming a member of the EU and NATO, developing good neighboring relations and regional cooperation in SEE, as well as forming and strengthening Croatia's position and image in the international relations.
During this year some difficult questions are going to be raised in the process of the accession talks where the maintenance of the reached national
consensus is going to be very important in strengthening our position in negotiations.
Various reforms conducted in the relation with approaching the EU, especially regarding fulfillment of the political conditions, are complement to the reforms needed to be conducted in order to receive an invitation to a full membership in the NATO Alliance.
Aware of its role in the region, Croatia supports the improvement of the good neighboring relations based on following the international law, equality of rights and mutual respect in order to resolve remaining open issues. 1n the international relations, Croatia is making efforts to strengthen the image of the responsible member of international community, which contributes to democracy, security and stability at the global level.
