Republic of Croatia is not focused only on threats coming from individual aggression but on different forms of security challenges resulting from regional instability, global terrorism and transnational criminal activities most of European countries are facing with.
Membership in NATO and the EU are defined as two main foreign policy goals of the Republic of Croatia having in mind that security and stability could be most successfully achieved through cooperative and common efforts. National security of the Republic of Croatia is based on the principles and mechanisms of collective security which is the reason why external factors prevailed in security policy making.
