Finds of coins from the church of st. Martin in Lepuri near Benkovac

Sažetak
This paper presents the numismatic finds discovered during the archaeological research that was conducted in the period from 1997 to 2002 in the area of the church of St. Martin in Lepuri near Benkovac. The oldest specimens among them are Roman coins, one is a Carolingian silver denarius of Louis the Pious, followed by coins from the High and Late Middle Ages, as well as the modern era. Among the medieval coins, Venetian silver coins are the most numerous, along with specimens of Hungarian coins and those from Italian communes and the Patriarchate of Aquileia. The groschen of Duke Hrvoje and the soldo of the Moneta Dalmatie type stand out as particularly significant individual finds. Coins from the modern period are represented by specimens of Venetian doges of the 16th-18th centuries, soldi issued for Dalmatia and Albania, as well as Corfu, Kefalonia and Zakynthos. The finds also consisted of coins of the rulers Leopold, Joseph II, Francis II and Francis I, as well as Franz Joseph. Part of the coins belonging to the modern period as well as one brass token used for calculations from Nuremberg were in secondary use as jewellery and for decorating parts of folk costumes.
