Sažetak

The issue of low political participation is an important topic of research for
many authors from Croatia and Serbia. Research shows that young people do not have much interest in the political sphere and that the rate of their political participation is low. While taking into account works on this topic from domestic researchers, in this article we aim to reassess their methodological solutions. On the basis of inquiries of researchers from Latin America, we aim to display more contemporary ways of dealing with questions regarding political participation of young people. Phenomena such as memes, social networks, petitons can be part of the new way of research that is missing from work about youth in Serbia and Croatia. After debate about methodology, we deal with ways in which future work on this topic can be done – in order to better grasp the problems of youth participation in a global society whose entire infrastructure is digital.
The first step is seeing young people as „digital natives“ whose definition
of political is entirely different from conceptions used in recent works.
