The Croatian experience with the introduction of 5G

Sažetak
The fifth generation of of mobile communications networks, 5G, is the heir to previous generations
(1G, 2G, 3G, and 4G). European Directives of 2018/1972 which accentuate the importance of 5G
technologies are analysed, as is the need to harmonize national legislatures in the aim of assuring
speedy granting of radiofrequency specter for 5G. Despite great expectations, the introduction
of 5G has been followed by challenges, including tardiness in legislation harmonization, social
controversies on health effects and formal conditions of public procurement. After granting the
specter in the Republic of Croatia, certain member states of the EU are analyzed using a comparative
approach. Predicting the consequences of introducing 5G is related here to the extensive use of 5G
which while first and foremost strengthens informational-communication activity while the wider
reality and robotisation will be in every application. This, in the legal sense, will be linked as well to
the need for an all-inclusive regulation of legal terminology.
