Sažetak

Sled dogs are known for their endurance and
strength, but intense physical activity can lead to
serious gastrointestinal issues. This thesis examines
how extreme physical exertion affects the gastrointestinal
system of sled dogs, including the subsequent
development of gastritis, gastric ulcers, diarrhea,
and intestinal dysbiosis. Research indicates
that stress induced by increased physical demands
triggers hormonal responses, such as elevated levels
of cortisol and gastrin, contributing to the conditions
named above. The thesis also highlights the
importance of customized nutrition, and the use of
prebiotics and probiotics as preventive measures to
support the digestive health of sled dogs, thereby
contributing to a better understanding of the health
challenges faced by these animals.
