Sažetak
The popularization of science is an important element of communication between scientists and the general public. Science festivals are a form of communication between scientists and the general public, in which preschool children, among others, participate. This article analyzes the perception of information and communication sciences among a sample of 90 preschool children over four years. Feedback on the children’s perception of the popularization of information and communication sciences was collected through the analysis of children's drawings and the content analysis of accompanying statements. The results show that children aged 5-7 years prefer the use of colors over monochromatic drawings when depicting experiences related to information and communication technology. On average, the children included five elements in their drawings. The analyzed elements represent animate and inanimate beings as well as abstract phenomena. The children’s drawings depict both the dynamic and static nature of these elements, along with interactions between living and non-living elements. Interest in information and communication sciences is equally expressed among girls and boys, with fewer indications of gender-related stereotypes. These results can inform the planning of future activities to promote the popularization of information and communication sciences as an integral part of the STEM fields.
