Sažetak

The dog (lat. Canis lupus familiaris) was the earliest
domesticated mammal and is one of the most
beloved pets. The coevolution of dogs and humans
has led to changes in the behaviour of domestic
dogs compared to their wild ancestors. Thanks to
their abilities and adaptability, they have become
faithful companions to humans, playing a role in
almost all aspects of life. Lifestyle changes have
also led to anatomical and behavioural changes in
dogs, which can affect their welfare. If abnormal
behaviours appear, they must be modified promptly
to avoid lasting consequences. To ensure a long
and healthy life for a dog, it is necessary to provide
proper nutrition, sufficient exercise and activity, appropriate
housing conditions, and timely veterinary
care.
