Abstract

Psychosomatic disorders are a very complex area, both in the etiological and therapeutic
sense. A psychosomatic disease in combination with a somatization disorder may be
complicated by alexithymia, which further distances the patient from their own emotional
states. Group analysis is one of the possible therapeutic approaches since it provides the opportunity
to work on emotional interpersonal relationships which have a reciprocal effect on
the physical condition. However, in case of “anti-group” activation, as well as in problematic
countertransference situations, therapeutic efforts are only partially successful

Keywords

psychosomatic disorder; alexithymia; group analysis; countertransference; anti-group
