Abstract
Introduction: Operating room nurses work in a very complex environment. Activities in daily work in the operating rooms require a very high level of theorethical knowledge and practical skills. The knowledge and work skills in the operating romms are specific, so operating room nurses must have very high level of education.
Aim: The aim of this systematic literature review is to determine which specific knowledge operating room nurses must have to work in operating rooms, and which techniques and learning methods are used in the education process of operating room nurses.
Methods: Two databases, CINAHL and SCIENCEDIRECT, were searched. Keywords used in searching the literature were operating room nurses, education, and methods. Criteria for selecting articles were all keywords, articles not older than 5 years, English language, and the strength of impact factor. The Resurchify application was used for checking impact factors.
Conslusion: For the successful and efficient implementation of work processes in operating rooms, it is very important to know the legal, ethical, and professional principles of perioperative nursing care. Interpersonal relations, communication, organizational and managerial skills are a base for the implementation of good practice in operating rooms. It is important to mention knowledge about clinical and operative surgery, leadership, education processes, learning methods, and the obligation of professional development.
