Sažetak

In accord with the developmental strategy of the Republic of Croatia and its
aspiration for a transition to clean energy, in search of a green energy for the future
applicable in mining, the possibilities for the use of alternative sources of energy
are analysed. In view of the fact that the Croatian energy strategy is cognisant of
hydrogen and its use in the transportation development strategy up to the year
2030, the aim being to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, hydrogen is compared
with other forms of motive power, those using diesel and electricity. Methods for
the production of hydrogen are discussed, those already feasible and those in the
experimental phase. A review is given of achievements made to date in extraction
industry firms worldwide in their endeavours to decarbonise the economy and reduce
carbon dioxide emissions. The possibilities for the employment of renewable
sources of energy in the extraction of architectural and construction industry stone
are analysed.
