Ensuring the resilience and reliability of power systems requires robust contingency analysis, especially under conditions of component failure. This paper presents a detailed analysis of the IEEE 30-bus system using PowerWorld Simulator, focusing on both single and multi-contingency outage scenarios. By employing the Line Outage Distribution Factor (LODF), this study evaluates how power flows redistribute following line and generator outages, highlighting vulnerabilities such as line overloads and voltage instabilities. Separate outages indicate manageable stress levels within the grid; however, simultaneous outages reveal extreme thermal stress, critical under voltages, and a significantly compromised system stability, underscoring the potential for cascading failures. To address these risks, we propose targeted interventions, including infrastructure upgrades, reactive power support, and enhanced real-time monitoring systems. These findings demonstrate the essential role of contingency analysis in identifying critical vulnerabilities and supporting proactive strategies to safeguard grid stability against unforeseen outages.
