Sažetak
The central functions of the settlement, such as service and administrative activities, are crucial for the development
of each area and the quality of life in it. The theory of central settlements explains how centres are spatially
distributed depending on their functions and accessibility to the population. Understanding the equipment of central
functions is essential for the development of regional development strategies and the improvement of the quality of life
of individual areas.
The paper analyses the system of central settlements in the County of Herceg-Bosnia and the provision of central
functions in the municipality of Tomislavgrad in the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The goal is to determine the
system of central settlements according to pre-defined criteria, considering historical migrations and the impact of
war. In addition to determining the equipment of the central functions, as an outcome of the work, a cartographic representation
of the geographical distribution of functions on the territory of the Tomislavgrad municipality was created.
Additionally, a short survey was conducted regarding the satisfaction of the municipality’s population with availability
of certain functions.
