Sažetak

The history of pedagogy, Croatian education, and teaching is studied and evaluated in relation to contemporary scientific concepts. Studying and analysing archival material always brings us to the “right path “and provides the opportunity to re-evaluate established facts in sources that paraphrased the original material. Due to unintentional possible errors in citing certain sources over the years (153 years), inconsistencies have been observed in citing the founders and signatories of the Croatian Pedagogical-Literary Assembly from its founding to the present day. The bicentennial of the birth of Ivan Filipović (1823-2023), who was its founder and the creator of the aforementioned Rules, prompted us to shed light on the question of the founders of the Croatian Pedagogical-Literary Assembly as well as who the signatories of the Rules were.
The research results obtained through a critical, historical, theoretical-comparative and hermeneutic methodological approach highlight the socio-political context of the time of its founding, the causes of the formation of the Croatian Pedagogical-Literary Assembly, and who were the founders and signatories of the Rules of this teachers’ association.
