Abstract

The problem of the definition of the category of system as formulated by Karl Ludwig von Bertalanffy is investigated by using the chemical graph theory. General approach to the system within the metaphysical frame is based on the model in which the mechanistic scheme for the cyclopropylcarbinyl network of reactions is used as an example of the abstraction of the category of system. Here, the chemical graph theory is extended to the studies of the organic reaction mechanisms. The relationship between diversity and complexity, as well as the definition of the parent system is discussed.
