Modern AI Models in Education: Usefulness of ChatGPT in Creating Knowledge Assessment Tests

Abstract

Technological innovations, particularly artificial intelligence, are transforming education by facilitating teachers' work and enhancing the learning process. Artificial intelligence enables automated grading, personalized learning, and content generation, while ChatGPT assists in lesson planning, test creation, and knowledge assessment. To evaluate its usefulness in creating knowledge assessment tests, a survey was conducted among 52 teachers in Croatia as part of this study. Most respondents were satisfied with the ease of use, the speed of result generation, and the accuracy of the generated questions, while they were least satisfied with ChatGPT's high dependence on the quality of input data. The study confirmed that ChatGPT saves time, reduces workload, and improves the quality of tests, with the majority of teachers expressing their willingness to continue using it.
