Abstract
Aim: The aim of this paper is to present a patient with a pseudocyst of the adrenal gland, as well as to discuss diagnostic challenges, and treatment approach for this clinical entity. Case report: A 69-year-old female patient was admitted to the Department of Urology for surgical treatment of an asymptomatic cyst of the right kidney classified as Bosniak III. The surgery was performed using a laparoscopic approach. Intraoperatively, a cystic formation measuring approximately 5 cm was found above and medially to the upper pole of the right kidney, which was separated from it and was entering the right adrenal gland. The formation was completely removed, and the pathological examination revealed that it was a calcified pseudocyst of the adrenal cortex measuring 5x4x3 centimeters. The postoperative course was uneventful. Since it is a benign pathology, the patient is followed up annually by the urologist. Conclusion: Pseudocyst of the adrenal gland is a very rare clinical entity. Diagnosis is based on imaging studies, primarily CT scans. Treatment depends on symptoms, as well as the findings of diagnostic tests. Depending on these factors, surgical intervention or monitoring of pseudocyst growth may be indicated, with an excellent prognosis.
