Abstract

Military teachers, during their careers, take on multiple professional roles that require a wide range of both generic and specific competencies. Due to the lack of studies conducted on teacher competencies in the military education system in the Republic of Croatia, a study was conducted in 2022 at the Croatian Military Academy “Dr. Franjo Tuđman” with the aim of examining the needs for generic and specific competencies of military teachers in the military education system in the Republic of Croatia. 30 respondents participated in the study, and data were collected through interviews. Nine teacher competencies required for work in military education were defined. In 2024, in accordance with the defined competencies, a study was conducted in which 67 respondents participated, and data were collected through an online survey. The study confirmed the need for defined competencies and will serve to create a competency profile of a military teacher at the Croatian Military Academy “Dr. Franjo Tuđman”.
