Sažetak

Bioterrorism, or diverse attacks with biological agents, has been occurring since ancient times and is a real danger in the modern world. Water supply systems directly and indirectly affect the lives of all citizens, and the quality of drinking water directly determines the quality of life of every individual and community. Security protection of the entire water supply system is a key part of risk management, and effective protective measures are essential to prevent the execution of terrorist acts in this domain. Terrorist attacks with poisonous, toxic, and infectious agents can have significant consequences on society, the loss of life can be considerable, and the health threat can have massive proportions. The psychological traumas that remain as a result of such acts significantly reduce the quality of life of all individuals who were directly or indirectly exposed to such attacks. The task of security professionals is to determine the risks, anticipate them, and test the security systems of the water supply to ascertain the actual state of security. Accordingly, it is necessary to create action plans through which the mentioned risks will be reduced, or, in other words, drinking water will be protected. The water supply is one of the essential elements of the daily life of all citizens, so constant special attention must be paid to its security.
